Punjab govt decides to provide financial stipend to Imams of Masjids in the province

Lahore: Punjab government has decided to provide financial stipend to Imams of about 65000 Masjids in the province.

Announcing the financial stipends for Imams of mosques, Punjab Chief Minsiter (CM) Maryam Nawaz said Imams of mosques are revered and respectable members of society. Making payment to them by collecting contribution from mohalla is inappropriate.

Punjab government will providefinancial stipend to Imams masjids as per their requirement to maintain their dignity and respect.

The government has also stated it would provide a mobile app for the registration of religious leaders for the stipend scheme.

CM Punjab directed to include the repair and renovation of mosques project in annual development program besides taking steps for their early completion.

Under the directives of CM Punjab special buses will be run for Raiwind ijtema and fool proof security arrangements have been made for ijtema.
