Srinagar: In a damning interview, former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of gross negligence and cover-up in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, which killed 40 CRPF personnel. Malik revealed that security lapses, including the denial of air transport for troops and ignored intelligence inputs, directly contributed to the tragedy.Malik stated that when he informed PM Modi of the lapses, he was told to stay silent to protect the government's image ahead of elections. 'Chup raho, ye mat kehna,' Modi reportedly told him. He also warned that a similar pattern of negligence and denial is visible in the Pahalgam attack, urging accountability.Malik further criticized the failure of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, claimed the media is 'sold out' and blamed the ruling BJP for using national security as political propaganda. He also revealed Modi's indifference toward farmer deaths during the protests, saying the PM lacked empathy.Th is rare and blunt critique from a senior insider raises serious concerns about institutional failures, misuse of security narratives, and erosion of democratic accountability in India.
