SC announces important decision in harassment case

Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has announced an important decision in harassment case.

SC while dismissing appeal plea of Muhammad Tahir while dismissing appeal plea of Muhammad Tahir upheld the decision of Islamabad High Court (IHC).

According to decision the punishment of dismissal from service and fine of Rs 5 lac in respect of assistant clinical instructor has been upheld. SC declared the decisions of federal mohtasib and president correct.

The court remarked wrong attitude with students is against organizational trust and professional trust.

Written complaints under sexual harassment law is maintainable too.

The court directed to set up harassment protection cell at district and tehsil level for protection of women in rural and informal sectors.

SC ordered to constitute anti harassment committee in respect of the complaints of women in educational institutions.

The court ordered to keep name of complainant secret.
