SC declares unconstitutional quota of government employees children in all packages

Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has declared unconstitutional all policies and quota related to packages in respect of children of government employees.

11-page verdict was authored by Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan.

According to written order all the policies regarding children of government employees have been declared unconstitutional.

In the decision Prime Minister (PM) package for employment and section 11-A of Sindh Civil Servants Rules-1947 related to quota have been declared null and void.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa took up the case for hearing.

Additional Attorney General (AAG) told the court appeal is pending hearing against Peshawar High Court (PHC) decision in SC.

CJP remarked there should be logic of every government policy. Retired employees are paid pension. What is need of taking this contract despite pension.

AAG told the court children quota has been abolished by making amendment in service rules of Punjab government.

l advocate Sindh told the law for providing job to children of government employees is in place in Sindh.

The CJP remarked this way no one from outside will be able to get job.

Advocate General told policy is there in Balochistan to provide job to children of government employees who die during service.

Additional Advocate General KP presented stance against policy of providing job to children of government employees. Policy is in place in KP which should not be there.

CJP remarked now they will say we were providing jobs and SC has stopped.
