Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) while hearing petitions filed by Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha seeking suspension of their sentence has expressed resentment over lack of progress in the matter in Islamabad High Court (IHC)
A two members bench of SC headed by Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan heard the case. The court sought progress made so far in the case from Faisal Siddiqui counsel for the petitions. Counsel Faisal Siddiqui said he will put before the court first order. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan inquired what happened after court's orders. The counsel replied IHC has made no progress in the case.
Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan remarked if high court does not make any movement forward then what is power of SC. He said SC should keep on waiting only. The court said to the counsel " seek time till tomorrow if the preparation is not complete. During the hearing of the case counsel Faisal Siddiqui presented references of two decisions of SC. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan said we can go ahead when our hands and feet are untied on the situation.
The state counsel told the court this case will be fixed in high court after vacations. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till today ( Thursday) following the arguments by the respondents.
