Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has issued notice to Advocate General (AG) KP in Khanpur dam polluted water supply case.
SC constitutional bench took up for hearing suo mutu notice case against supply of contaminated water Monday.
Ahsan Raza counsel for WAPDA took the plea Khanpur dam is only source to supply water to 5 million people.
Executive district administration is extending facilitation. Earlier 20 boats operated and now 326 boats are operating in the dam.
Justice Jamal Mandokhail remarked PHA department is there too. It should set some principle in this regard.
Justice Shakil Ahmad remarked dam administration can say running motor boats here are prohibited.
Counsel told the court these people are earning money due to boating. 6 resorts have also been constructed.
Justice Aamr Forooq inquired how can they operate boats without your permission.
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail remarked what is your role for stopping boating.
The counsel told the court we had filed petition before the magistrate. The situation has further deteriorated after formation of Khan Pur Tehsil.
Justice Amin ud Din Khan remarked you say pollution is being caused due to boating . If there is any alternative way to it then tell us.
The counsel replied yes there is alternative way too. There are electric boats which will not cause pollution.
The court while issuing notice to AG KP adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
