Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has issued notice to the respondents on Fawad Chaudhry petition for clubbing 35 cases related to May 9 incident. The petition filed by former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry praying the court to club 35 cases related to May 9 incidents came up for hearing Wednesday.
A 2-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Shahid Wahid issued notice to all respective respondents after hearing the petition besides adjourning the hearing till July 01.
It is pertinent to mention here massive demonstrations started on May 9, 2023 at the time when former premier Imran Khan was arrested from Islamabad High Court (IHC) in Al-Qadir trust case by NAB.
During these demonstrations government and military installations were attacked in different cities. The demonstrations were held outside GHQ Rawalpindi, Corps Commander House Lahore and Mianwali airbase.
Following these incidents government registered cases against hundreds of PTI workers and leaders under terror and other clauses. Fawad Chaudhry who was then federal minister is also among those against whom FIR in 35 cases were registered in different cities.
