Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui on Wednesday lauded the government's stance and prudent handling of recent regional tensions."The government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Security Committee (NSC) successfully navigated a complex situation and safeguarded national interests," Siddiqui said.However, the senator who also heads Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, warned about the deepening strategic ties between Israel and India.Speaking to a private television morning show, Senator Siddiqui termed the recently announced Israel-Iran ceasefire a welcoming development.Talking about India's "unjust war" against Pakistan that ended in a decisive defeat for India, he said "The fire India ignited came back to our door when Israel attacked Iran."Siddiqui said that Pakistan has rightly nominated former US President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize for his role in halting the Indo-Pakistan conflict.Talking about the conflic t in the middle east, he said that Iranian strike on US installations in Qatar has created a difficult situation for Pakistan."Pakistan found itself walking a tightrope," he said. The strike also caused significant unease among Gulf states, including the United Arab Emirates, further complicating the regional picture.He said that Pakistani state institutions handled this multi-faceted crisis effectively. Siddiqui strongly condemned the targeted assassinations of Iranian figures and the unprecedented public threats against Iran's head of state."We haven't witnessed anything like this," Siddiqui stated. Talking about relationship between Israel and India he said "We must remain vigilant regarding the latest nexus between Israel and India."Siddiqui said this partnership extends beyond significant defence trade - where India is Israel's largest arms buyer - towards a deeper strategic alignment. He said that Islamabad perceives potential for enhanced intelligence sharing, coordinated diplomatic pressure, a nd collaboration in asymmetric or cyber warfare domains, all potentially directed against Pakistan's interests.He said that Iran has now "fully realized India's role," during the conflict. Tehran saw New Delhi not just as an economic partner but as strategically aligned with Israel against Iranian interests.
