Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has issued notices to Additional Attorney General (AAG) and other respondents on the petitions from Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in connection with suspension of their sentence in controversial tweets case and sought reply from them.
A three members bench of SC presided over by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar took up the case for hearing.
Faisal Siddiqui counsel for the petitioners took the plea the SC had directed high court to decide the matter of suspension of sentence within two weeks.
SC had kept the case pending with it. Later the high court fixed the case on May 20. Next date was fixed on June 04 and the cause list of June 4 was cancelled. The case has not been fixed again so far. We gave urgent application which was returned.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar said generally SC does not interfere in the interim order of high court. High court has not issued notice to prosecution so far.
Faisal Siddiqui said it is our request high court fixes the case and decides it. Don’t give us torture. If decision has to be made against then this decision be given but case should be fixed. What is happening with us in this case , we have not seen happening so ever before.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked we are fixing the case for hearing next week.
Faisal Siddiqui said hearing be fixed from next week to the week after next .
The court accepting the plea adjourned the hearing till July 21 besides issuing notices to the respondents.
