Islamabad: The Senate session will be held on August 17 at 4pm, while the agenda for the sitting has been issued. A bill relating to the use and control of disposable syringes will be introduced in the Upper House. A bill seeking an amendment to Article 140-A of the Constitution will also be presented in the Senate. The agenda also includes a bill seeking amendments to the Pakistan Telecommunication Act.
Several bills proposing amendments to the Pakistan Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure will also be introduced. The Senate will consider a bill seeking amendments to the Anti-Rape law.
A motion will also be moved for consideration of a bill seeking amendments to the Passports Act. The Upper House will debate the issue of increasing maternal deaths among women during childbirth in the country.
The Senate will also discuss alleged irregularities in the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and institutional reforms in the programme. Preparations by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and relevant institutions to deal with expected monsoon floods will also come under discussion.
