Islamabad: Special Secretary Senate of Pakistan, Mr. Hafeezullah Sheikh, addressed the ASGP/IPU session in Geneva, highlighting Pakistan's remarkable progress in transforming its Parliament into a modern, resilient, and citizen-centric institution.
He proudly noted that Pakistan's Parliament is the first in the world to operate entirely on solar energy - a milestone reflecting the nation's commitment to environmental sustainability and clean governance.
Mr. Sheikh informed the forum that under the visionary leadership of Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani - former Prime Minister of Pakistan and founding President of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference - the Senate is developing an AI-powered chatbot. The innovation will enable Members of Parliament and staff to instantly access legislative records, committee reports, and debates, ensuring greater efficiency and transparency in parliamentary work.
It was further highlighted that Mr. Hafeezullah Sheikh had the honour of addressing the ASGP/IPU session for the second time, becoming the first Pakistani officer to do so. Previously, he had spoken at the 2024 session - and to date, only two Pakistanis have ever been invited to address this distinguished global platform.
Mr. Sheikh emphasized that these forward-looking initiatives reaffirm the Senate's resolve to embrace technology, enhance transparency, and set new international benchmarks for innovation and public service in parliamentary governance.
