Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says all political parties should sit together to change the current accountability system of country

KARACHI: Former prime minister and Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Friday said that all political parties should sit together to change the current accountability system of the country.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said this while talking to media persons in Karachi after appearing before the accountability court in former MD PSO Sheikh Imranul Haq’s appointment case. He further said that a long march was being held to influence the appointment of the army chief but that matter was also completed amicably.

He said that in the country accountability is discussed in public gatherings but this system is destroying the country. He said, “If cases are made against government officials, no officer will be ready to work and no one will be safe from the so-called accountability of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).”

He said that none of the cases during the former chairman NAB’s tenure have been completed, but there is a need to abolish the NAB institution and create a new system.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Imran Khan has been on a journey for a month but he has not yet reached Islamabad. He, however, said, “If Imran Khan stays within the law, we will welcome him, and otherwise Rana Sanaullah will welcome him.”
