Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) while upholding NAB step regarding cancellation of illegal allotment of 800 acres precious state land in Karachi has rejected petitions of Qabza groups.

According to court's decision SHC maintained on June 18, 2026 that the allotment of the said land was illegal from the very beginning. Therefore, the proceedings initiated by NAB for retrieving land is legal and correct.

The court rejected this stance of the petitioners that proceedings was carried out without hearing them.

According to media report, this matter is one among the biggest land scandals in Karachi

800 acres state land worth billion of rupees was transferred in the name of private persons in the beginning of 1990 decade through fake documents in alleged connivance with corrupt government officials.

Later this land was sold out at heavy profit despite the fact installations for supplying water and public parks were there in certain parts of this land.

According to NAB that under the NAB chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt and deputy chairman Suleman Nasir and with the cooperation of Sindh Board of Revenue the fake record was got cancelled and the land was taken again into custody of government.

The claimants of the land while resorting SHC had taken plea they are purchasers of land.

The court however maintained the land acquired on illegal basis cannot be given protection. The court directed the petitioners if any fraud has been committed with them then they should initiate legal proceedings against the sellers of land and not against the state. NAB spokesperson while welcoming court decision said this land was allocated for water infrastructure in Karachi and parks.
