Islamabad: In a facilitative measure aimed at minimizing inconvenience and ensuring timely adjudication, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has introduced an enabling mechanism for litigants and members of the Bar filing cases at the Quetta Branch Registry, allowing them the option, at the time of filing, to have their matters fixed either at the Branch Registry at Quetta or at the Principal Seat, Islamabad.

The initiative follows concerns expressed by members of the Bar at Quetta regarding the inconvenience arising from the comparatively lesser availability of regular Benches at the Branch Registry owing to lower pendency, causing difficulties to the litigants. The new arrangement is intended to provide clarity at the stage of filing and to facilitate more efficient scheduling of cases.

This measure reflects the Supreme Court's continued commitment to responsive and citizen-centric judicial administration, ensuring that litigants and lawyers from Balochistan are afforded timely, efficient, and flexible access to hearings.
