Lahore: In compliance with the order of Lahore High Court (LHC) survey of dangerous and dilapidated buildings has been completed before Basant in walled city Lahore.
Overall 346 buildings have been declared dangerous in walled city Lahore.
The report of Walled City Authority (WCA) has been filed in LHC in connection with the petition against kite flying.
It has been said in the report 183 out of 346 dangerous dilapidated buildings have been declared non-repairable. 163 buildings in walled city Lahore have been declared repairable.
Highly dangerous dilapidated 92 buildings have been got vacated. People are still living in 254 dangerous buildings which could not got vacated.
It has been told in the report that out of buildings where the people are still living, 103 are not repairable and 151 are repairable.
80 out of vacated buildings are liable to be demolished while 12 are reparable.
It has been said in the report roofs of the dangerous buildings are insecure for Basant activities. Steps are being taken to impose ban on use of roofs of unsafe buildings for Basant activities. Warning notices are being issued and awareness banners are being put to display by Walled city Lahore.
Safety measures have been started for avoiding any untoward incident during Basant.
District administration has been requested to seal dangerous roofs and parts of the buildings.
It has been requested for deployment of police and para forces during Basant.
