Tarar inaugurates National Press Club website

Islamabad: Information Minister Atta Ullah Tarar has inaugurated website of National Press Club. He said digital content creation has become need of hour. Ensuring the stability and security of all electronic and print media is among the top priorities of government.

He held government is working on new policy for addressing the financial problems facing journalists and media houses. Short courses will be introduced to boost professional capabilities of the journalists.

Talking to journalists he said the matters related to housing of journalists are being considered seriously. All the decisions in this regard will be taken in consultation with journalists organizations and representatives so that a lasting solution could be found of old standing issues.

He underlined media industry faced intense financial crisis due to previous government 2019 media policy. The rate of the advertisements were curtailed. The funds of national press club were restricted and several journalist became jobless.

During the present government tenure the release of advertisements to any TV channel or newspapers have not been suspended.

He indicated several TV channels are facing financial crisis at present. Due to it government is evolving such a policy which proves conducive to media houses and journalists.

He described guidance of journalists community indispensible in this connection.

He remarked electronic and print media are basic requirements of the society and promoting them is corporate responsibility of both government and journalists.

Although importance of digital media is on rise however keeping traditional media strong and stable is too essential .

Today matter of non payment of salaries to employees has been discussed in NEWS. Government will extend every possible cooperation to resolve the problems facing media workers.
