Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has maintained tree cutting on Canal Road will not be allowed. Different petitions regarding eradication of smog came up for hearing in LHC Friday. During the hearing water problems and several important points related to climate safety, rural planning came under discussion. Counsel for WASA informed the court during hearing of the case water maters will soon be installed in Lahore. He presented water meter before court as sample.

Appreciating efforts of WASA the court remarked water issue is before all of us. This is a good movement forward. Counsel for WASA told the court these meters will be installed at commercial places in the first phase. The court while rejecting sternly any permission for tree cutting on Canal Road made it clear we will not allow tree cutting on Canal road at any cost. Beauty of trees in Lahore is left only there on Canal road.

Judicial commission informed the court planning for Yellow train project is being made on Canal road. Apprehension for trees cutting is there due to it. The court rejected this apprehension in an unequivocal terms. During the hearing of the case Judicial Commission disclosed this too government has rejected summary regarding grant of health allowance to traffic wardens.

The court expressed sorrow over it. The court while giving remarks about climate department said so much appointments have been made in climate department but their presence is not seen on roads. The court while stressing action against smoke emitting vehicles on roads sought report from climate department about induction of field teams.
