Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu calls on CJP Yahya Afridi

Islamabad: Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, Ambassador of the Republic of Trkiye to Pakistan, called on Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, at the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday.

In order to keep the relevant ministries of the Government in loop on the forthcoming high-level judicial exchange between the two countries, the meeting was also attended by Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice and representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The interaction took place in the backdrop of the forthcoming visit of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Trkiye to Pakistan, scheduled for March 2026. During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed between the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Constitutional Court of Trkiye, signifying a major step forward in structured institutional cooperation between the two judiciaries.

The Chief Justice conveyed his appreciation for the proposed visit and reaffirmed the Supreme Court's full commitment to ensuring that the visiting dignitary is received with due warmth and judicial courtesy, consistent with the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Trkiye.

During the meeting, the Chief Justice underscored the historic and cordial ties between the two countries, grounded in shared legal traditions, mutual respect, and enduring cultural bonds. He acknowledged the growing cooperation in technology integration, capacity building, and exchange of best practices across various levels of the judicial system.

Both sides expressed confidence that the forthcoming visit and the signing of the MoU would provide a structured framework for enhanced collaboration, including judicial dialogue, research cooperation, training initiatives, and the mutual exchange of jurisprudential developments.
