UK’s recognition of Palestinian State a small step towards repaying a historic debt: Senator Irfan Siddiqui

Islamabad: Senator Irfan Siddiqui, parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, has called the United Kingdom's recognition of a sovereign Palestinian state 'a small installment towards settling a historic debt.'

In a statement shared on social media platform X on Monday, the senior PML-N leader noted that with the UK, Canada, and Australia recognizing Palestine, the number of UN member states acknowledging the Palestinian state has risen to 143 out of 193. This figure could surpass 150 during the recent UN General Assembly session.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui urged the international community to move beyond symbolic gestures, impassioned speeches, and emotional appeals. He called for concrete, effective, and result-oriented actions to halt Israel's 'shameful brutality, global terrorism, and the genocide in Gaza.' Senator Irfan Siddiqui emphasized the need for strict enforcement of such measures by the international community.
