Upper Kohistan scandal: PHC issues order on appeal pleas filed against freezed assets


Peshawar: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued decision in respect of appeal pleas filed against freezed assets in Upper Kohistan Scandal.

Justice Sahibzada Asad Ullah while sending the case back to Accountability Court (AC) has nullified October 31, 2025 decision by declaring it illegal.

The court directed AC to give decisions again on objections within one month.

It was said in the decision that rejecting the objections without inquiry and evidence is violation of right to fair trial. Therefore, the decision be given according to law after hearing the respondents and recording the evidence.

PHC ordered that AC should give independent decision about possession of controversial properties after hearing all the respondents. Trial court should initiate proceedings as per law without harassing the petitioners.

The court also maintained no stern action be taken against the petitioners in regard to possession of property till final decision.

According to counsel for appellants NAB freezed the assets of Ifti
khar Ahmad and Safia Perveen while assets were freezed illegally in Hayat Abad as well.

He said AC had dismissed the petitions regarding objections against freezing the assets . High Court had declared it null and void.
