Karachi: Global Aafia Movement head and the noted neurophysician of the country Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui has congratulated the American nation on their 249th independence day on the 4th July, reminding them about the prolonged confinement of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.

She said that when the sky of the 4th July lights up with fireworks, the sky over the FMC Carswell weeps over the plights of innocent Aafia. The tears of Aafia eclipse the joys of the Independence Day.

She wondered if the people involved in cruelties on Aafia could realise that the real power is not in their cruelty but in mercy, forgiveness and love.

She said the American nation while enjoying their independence should know that their country has handed Dr. Aafia Siddiqui a jail term of 86 years or about one-fourth of their independence years though she has committed no crime.

Dr. Fowzia said that the slogan of the US President Donald Trump is making America great again. She said the US would become a great nation if it shows mercy and releases Dr Aafia. She hoped that on the occasion of their Independence Day, the justice-loving people of America would ask from their government why an innocent woman is being meted out cruelties and atrocities.

Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui appealed to the Pakistani officials, parliamentary members and politicians who are going to visit the US for congratulating the US administration to also raise the issue of Dr Aafia imprisonment, hoping that may their voice be heard this time.
