KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh's Ameer, Kashif Saeed Sheikh, has termed the ongoing water shortage in Sindh a deliberate conspiracy to turn the province barren. He demanded that the federal government take notice of the injustices being done to Sindh and ensure that the province receives its rightful share of water.Kashid Saeed Sheikh expressed these views while addressing a meeting of district-level officials from the upper Sindh regions of Larkana and Sukkur divisions.Kashid Saeed Sheikh stated that the people of Sindh will never tolerate any form of robbery over their share of water. Criticizing the Sindh government led by the Pakistan People's Party, he said that instead of misleading the people with false claims about canals on the Indus River, the government should inform the public of the real situation and raise a strong voice at every forum-including IRSA and the Council of Common Interests-to secure Sindh's due share of water.He further asserted that the construction of canals and the "Green Pakistan Project" are, in fact, attempts to make Sindh barren and seize its natural resources, which every citizen of Sindh must resist.He noted that the persistent water shortage has severely affected farmers and the agricultural sector, while the general public is also facing extreme difficulty in accessing drinking water.Moreover, he claimed that whatever little water is available is being usurped by influential individuals in collusion with irrigation officials, leaving poor and tail-end farmers badly affected.He emphasized that the Sindh government must ensure the fair distribution of available water, especially to tail-end farmers.Present on the occasion were Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh's Deputy Ameers Professor Nizamuddin Memon, Hafiz Nasrullah Channa, General Secretary Muhammad Yousuf, Deputy General Secretary Maulana Hizbullah Jakhro, and Imdadullah Bajarani.
