Why funds required for construction of Bhong interchange not provided as per SC order: IHC inquires

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has inquired why the funds required for construction of Bhong Interchange on Multan-Sukkar Motorway have not been provided as per Supreme Court (SC) decision and why this case has not been fixed for hearing after December.

The case regarding construction of Bhong Interchange on Multan-Sukkar Motorway came up for hearing in IHC. Justice Saman Raffat Imtiaz heard the case. lawyer Waqar Rana appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner Raees Munir.

During the hearing of the case, counsel for NHA took the plea the communication ministry has approved Rs 400 million besides writing letter to finance ministry. Reply is awaited. Counsel Waqar Rana took the plea funds for Bhong interchange should be allocated under PSDP and proper amount be earmarked for this project in overall development budget. The court remarked no directives can be issued unless the written reply from other side comes. The court while directing communication ministry to file detailed reply adjourned the hearing of the case till May 6.
