Islamabad: Wafaqi Shariat Court (WSC) has declared depriving women of inheritance on basis of traditions and customs against Islam.

The court has ordered to initiate criminal proceedings against those involved in depriving women of inheritance.

A 4-member bench of court presided over by Justice Iqbal Hamid ur Rehman announced the decision Wednesday.

WSC announced decision on the petition filed by Fouzia Jalal Shah.

The decision said it was told to court chadar and parchi customs are practiced in Bannu.

According to KP government neither such customs are in place nor have they any importance. It was told that women are deprived of inheritance in the name of Chadar and Parchi.
