ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notice to secretary Aviation and chief executive Officer (CEO) PIA in connection with appointment of non engineers at large scale in engineering department of PIA and sought reply from them.

The case came up for hearing before IHC single bench led by Justice Babar Sattar here Monday.

Barrister Ijaz Gillani appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners.

The counsel for the petitioners told the court FA pass people have been appointed on the posts of Chief Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineer and Air Craft Engineer. The appointments of non engineers in the engineering department of PIA run contrary to the law. As per Pakistan Engineering Council Act only engineer can be appointed on the post of engineer. PIA management is persistently violating PEC Act.

The court inquired on the occasion what is education criteria for appointing engineers in PIA.

The defence counsel told the court at present matric or intermediate pass people have been appointed on the most of posts of engineers. The real degree holders engineers of PIA have been sidelined deliberately.

The court while issuing notice to the respondents have summoned reply from them within two weeks.
