ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has remarked this court is seeing that FIA does not misuse the powers.

The petition filed by senior journalist and former chairman PEMRA Absar Alim against the notice issued by FIA came up for hearing before single bench of IHC presided over by Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Athar Minallah Friday.

The court while expressing displeasure over non filing reply from FIA issued notice to FIA again and summoned reply till September 20.

The court remarked notice was issued on March 22 but reply has not been received so far. The petition is pending hearing. Notices were issued but comments have not been filed so far.

Journalists defence committee members Usman Warraich, Emman Mazari, Sajid Tanoli and Col (Retd) Inam ur Rahim appeared in the court.

Counsel for FIA told the court one advocate has registered a complaint against Absar Alam. If prestige of any one is hurt he can lodge complaint under PEECA act.

Counsel for FIA prayed the court an other case is pending hearing against the powers of FIA. It should be clubbed with it.

The CJ IHC remarked this court is seeing this thing FIA does not misuse powers. You are going to what direction, you will open Pandora box.

Deputy Attorney General told the court the notice was suspended by the court. FIA has become careful after this order of the court. This is only order of the court that FIA should move as per law. Social media is challenge for all of us. There are false news and agenda. Is it not this.

FIA encourages those whose criticism it likes and issue notices to those whose opinion is not liked by them.

The court while giving one week to FIA for filing reply adjourned the hearing of the case till September 20.
