LHC moved against non provision of jobs to transgender in federal, provincial departments

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notice to federal and provincial governments on a petition filed against non providing the jobs to transgender in police and other departments under quota besides seeking reply from them on November 29.

A single bench of LHC led by Justice Shaujaat Ali Khan took up the case for hearing Monday.

Nawaz alias Ashi Jan guru of the transgender appeared before the court.

The petition said jobs are not being provided to transgender in all the departments including police. The constitution of Pakistan provides equal rights to them with other citizens.

It has been highlighted in the petition that the right to education, health and employment in all the departments has been given to the transgender in the constitution. The rights of the transgender are being encroached upon despite constitutional and legal protection.

The petitioner prayed the court to issue order for providing jobs to the transgender in all the federal and provincial departments.
