Peshawar: A meeting of Provincial Task Force on merged districts reviewed the implementation status of decisions taken during last meeting regarding development projects and public issues.
The meeting of Provincial Task Force on merged districts was held on Thursday with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair.
Besides provincial cabinet members Shuakat Yousafzai, Shahram Tarakai, Iqbal Wazir, Kamran Bangash, Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. General Nauman Mahmood, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Senior Member Board of Revenue Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Inspector General Police Muazzam Jah Ansari, concerned administrative secretaries and other civil and military high ups attended the meeting.
While briefing the forum about the decisions taken in the last meeting and their implementation status, it was told that 27 important decisions were taken regarding North Wazirstan while 24 were made regarding Kurram district adding that out of the 27 decisions regarding North Wazirstan district, 19 had been fully implemented while the remaining 18 decisions were being implemented as per the timelines.
Regarding Kurram, it was informed that out of the 24 decisions, 11 decisions were fully implemented while progress was being made on the rest of the decisions in accordance with the timelines.
The forum was appraised that for the facilitation of the people of North Wazirstan district, NADRA offices were setup in Miran Shah and Razmak adding that passport office was also established and made fully operationalized in the district.
NADRA Citizen Facilitation Centers were also established on different spots while female staff had been posted to three of them. Besides, pending SNEs of health and education departments for North Wazirstan were also approved.
It was further informed that, under the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project 1.8 million saplings were planted during monsoon campaign. Touching upon the extension of provincial departments to newly merged districts, it was told that the offices of Excise & Taxation, Mines & Mineral, Rescue 1122, Social Welfare, Population Welfare and Food departments were also setup in the North Wazirstan district. Moreover, Spin Wam and Shewa hospitals were also made operational.
The forum was informed that a project regarding dualization of Bannu-Miran Shah road was reflected in Accelerated Implementation Program while the PC-II of the project had also been approved. Regarding education sector, it was told that the recruitment process of 379 teachers in North Wazirstan would be completed by the next month.
It was briefed that Rs. 2.26 billion were released for the strengthening of Police in NMDs. Briefing about Kurram district, it was told that a PC-II had been approved for the establishment of category-D hospitals in Makhranay, Mandan and Kharlachi adding that the feasibility study was also underway for the establishment of Medical College and upgradation of District Headquarter Hospital Kurram.
A project for the widening and rehabilitation of Thal-Parachinar road had been reflected in Annual Development Program (ADP). Regarding education sector, it was informed that recruitment process of 456 Teachers would be completed before the beginning of next academic year while 56 lecturers were recruited for the colleges in Kurram.
The meeting was briefed that formulation of education and health plans for the newly merged districts were in final stages while a separate economic plan had been devised for ramping up economic activities in the NMDs.
The chief minister, talking on the occasion, said that the provincial government was taking concrete steps under a well devised strategy for the development of merged districts on sustainable grounds adding that various development projects worth billion of rupees had been launched in the merged districts, which on completion would usher in a new era of prosperity and progress in those areas.
