SC issues last warning to FBR in the case of levying of additional tax on Shahbaz Sharif, Kalsoom Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has given last warning to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on levying of additional tax on PML-N President Shabaz Sharif and late Kulsoom Nawaz.

The court maintained FBR should tell when it gave notice on additional tax. FBR should review its documents. If notice has been given to the respondents then the additional tax will stand levied.

A two members bench of SC presided over by Justice Umar Ata Bandial took up the case for hearing Friday.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked during the hearing of the case that if notice is not proved then case will be finished.

The counsel for FBR argued that notice was given.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah remarked the question is this notice was given to the respondents before levying additional tax. Was the notice received by the respondents. The receipt of notice does not prove because FBR is saying so.

It may be mentioned that FBR has filed appeal plea against the high court decision with regard to additional tax in SC.
