PM orders inquiry against senior bureaucrat for ‘mocking govt’

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday ordered inquiry against a senior joint secretary for ‘posting objectionable comments’ against the incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, it emerged Tuesday.

According to media reports, the BS-21 graded joint secretary, who reports to Cabinet Division, posted a comment on a social media page/platform that was tantamount to misconduct under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020, according to a statement of allegations issued by the Establishment Division on Monday.

According to media reports, bureaucrat’s comment says that there was a similarity between Pakistan government and the Taliban set-up that both were figuring out ‘how to run state affairs after assuming powers’. “A similarity between the PTI and the Taliban is that both are figuring out how to run the government only after assuming power. According to the media report, Establishment Division, in a separate notification said that an inquiry has been ordered against the bureaucrat in light of the said allegations.
