PTI senator Ayub Afridi resigns from Senate seat

ISLAMABAD: PTI senator Ayub Afridi has resigned from his Senate seat and his resignation has been accepted by chairman Senate.

According to media reports his resignation has paved the way for making finance minister Shaukat Tareen as Senator.

Ayub Afridi has been appointed as SAPM Overseas.

Ayub Afridi has said “ I had presented my resignation to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. But I was asked to wait due to joint sitting of parliament. My Senate seat was PM trust and I have returned this trust to PM happily. It is discretion of PM to entrust this responsibility to whom he wills. I have no objection if PM does not assign any responsibility to me.

I will serve the nation if given a chance, he decalred;.

On the other hand Senate Secretariat has issued notification on declaring the Senate seat vacant. Senate secretariat has informed election commission in this regard. It is binding on the election commission to hold election against vacant seat of Senate within 30 days.
