Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Meets Newly-Elected Office Bearers of Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA)

Islamabad: Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan met with the newly-elected office bearers of the Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) at the Parliament House, Islamabad. The meeting discussed parliamentary coverage, the constructive role of media, and the promotion of public awareness.

The Acting Chairman said that media plays a vital role in strengthening democracy. He termed parliamentary reporting a significant and responsible field that helps the public understand legislation and policymaking.

Syedaal Khan noted that media serves as a strong bridge between people and policymakers. He said that transparency and positive reporting build trust and stability in society, adding that collaboration among the government, private sector, and media is essential for sustainable development.

He appreciated the positive role of parliamentary reporters in connecting Parliament with the people. Highlighting Pakistan's youth as a valuable national asset, he said their potential must be harnessed for national progress. He emphasized that harmony among Parliament, business, and media can produce lasting outcomes.

Congratulating the newly-elected PRA office bearers, he said leadership chosen through a democratic process deserves appreciation and expressed confidence that the new team will uphold journalistic excellence.

Syedaal Khan stressed that the nation needs unity, urging collective efforts to overcome current challenges. He said the Senate, with equal provincial representation, provides a vital platform for consensus on national issues.

He also referred to the Prime Minister's recent visit to the United States, noting key engagements with global leaders and opportunities to project Pakistan's stance internationally.

PRA President M.B. Soomro and Secretary General Naveed Akbar thanked the Acting Chairman for the meeting, congratulated him on performing Umrah, and raised concerns about media workers' rights, calling for legislation to protect them.
