Alkhidmat Foundation inaugurates Razi Medical Centre at Aghosh College Murree

Lahore: Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan inaugurated the Alkhidmat Razi Medical Centre at Aghosh College Murree on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan President Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman, project donor Farooq Shafi, Vice Presidents Air Marshal (R) Farooq Habib and Air Marshal (R) Arshad Malik, along with prominent personalities from various fields, local residents, teachers, and students of Aghosh.Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman said the journey that began with the Razi Hospital in Rawalpindi has now expanded across the country. He added that the newly established Razi Medical Centre in Murree will benefit not only Aghosh students but also residents of nearby areas. An ambulance service will also be available soon to provide emergency medical assistance, including on the Murree Expressway in case of accidents.Highlighting the organisation's welfare initiatives, Prof. Dr. Rehman said Alkhidmat started its orphan support programme after the 2005 Kashmir earthquake with the establishment of Aghosh Attock. 'Our initial plan was to sponsor 5,000 orphan children, but with Allah's help, we now operate 24 Aghosh Homes across Pakistan. The total number of sponsored orphan children both those living in Aghosh Homes and those residing with their mothers or guardians has exceeded 34,000,' he said.He added that Alkhidmat also provides educational support to street children through Child Protection Centres, and that the Foundation spends Rs3.5 billion annually on orphan and street children programmes alone. 'This is just one of Alkhidmat's eight major service areas. Overall, the organisation spends more than Rs30 billion every year on humanitarian services,' he noted.Regarding health services, Dr Rehman said Alkhidmat operates 56 hospitals, 48 medical centres, 300 ambulances, and 136 diagnostic and collection centres across the country. 'Last year, more than 14.2 million people benefited from Alkhidmat's healthcare facilities,' he said.Speaking about Alkhidmat's international relief efforts, he said the organisation has been actively serving the people of Gaza for the past two years. 'After rescue and relief operations, we have now begun rehabilitation work. Alkhidmat's bulldozers have started clearing the debris in Gaza. Our support for the people of Palestine will continue,' he added.Project donor Farooq Shafi said that the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasise deeds that benefit one in eternal life. 'Becoming part of this mission of serving humanity is a matter of honour and pride for us,' he said.
