Islamabad: Ambassador of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC), Ms. Misbah Khar, warmly welcomed distinguished parliamentary delegations from around the world to the Inaugural ISC, hosted by the Senate of Pakistan in Islamabad.

Addressing an august gathering that included Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, and parliamentary leaders from across continents, Ms. Khar described it as 'a privilege and a great honour to host such a distinguished assembly of global legislators in Islamabad.'

She noted that the gathering embodied 'a shared belief that constructive engagement, not division, must guide the way toward peace,' adding that the presence of speakers and delegates from diverse regions symbolized the world's collective resolve to confront global challenges through dialogue, cooperation, and partnership.

Highlighting the vision behind the ISC, Ms. Khar shared that the forum was conceived earlier this year under the leadership of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, when over 45 Speakers of Parliaments from around the world joined hands to lay its foundation. 'The belief was simple,' she said, 'that parliaments-the true voice of the people-must lead the effort to shape a safer and more prosperous world.'

Ms. Khar lauded Chairman Gilani's leadership and diplomatic foresight, noting that 'his experience as a former Prime Minister and Speaker gives him a unique understanding of how diplomacy and democracy reinforce one another. Through his vision, the ISC has transformed from an idea into a reality-a bridge connecting nations and people through dialogue and trust.'

Referring to the conference theme, 'Peace, Security, and Development,' Ms. Khar said these were 'not separate goals, but interdependent pillars of global stability.' She underlined that the ISC's guiding principles-interdependence, mutual prosperity, and shared values-represent actionable commitments that can shape a more equitable world order.

Reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to constructive engagement and multilateral cooperation, Ms. Khar stated that Pakistan 'remains a peace-loving and forward-looking nation that believes in inclusivity, dialogue, and bridge-building among civilizations.'

She expressed confidence that the Islamabad Communiqu© would serve as a roadmap for practical parliamentary collaboration, promoting justice, ethical governance, and shared progress. 'While global challenges ranging from conflicts and economic instability to climate change and inequality are immense,' she said, 'they also present opportunities for partnership and collective resilience.'

'Pakistan's own experience-its sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, its resilience in the face of natural disasters, and its pursuit of inclusive development-reminds us that nations grow stronger when they share lessons and support one another,' she added.

Concluding her address, Ms. Misbah Khar described the conference as 'not merely an event, but the beginning of a shared journey toward a fairer, safer, and more sustainable world.' She expressed confidence that the deliberations in Islamabad would serve as a transformative step toward strengthening global parliamentary diplomacy, and called upon participants to make the ISC 'a lasting bridge between continents founded on dialogue, justice, and mutual progress.'

'Together,' she concluded, 'let us ensure that the work we begin here lights the path toward a world defined not by fear or division, but by hope, solidarity, and collective responsibility.'
