Islamabad: Senior Hurriyat leader and Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Altaf Ahmad Bhat, has said that August 5th is a dark day for Kashmir, marking the illegal and forceful revocation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Indian government in 2019. 'This was not just a constitutional change,' he said. 'It was a direct attack on Kashmir's identity, its autonomy, and the will of its people.'Bhat called August 5 Youm-e-Istehsal-Kashmir Exploitation Day-a painful reminder of India's ongoing occupation and its imperialist ambitions in the region.'Modi's unilateral actions violated not only UN Security Council resolutions, but also the essence of India's own constitution,' Bhat said. 'But here's the thing: Kashmiris never accepted it-and our resistance is stronger than ever.'He urged Kashmiris, Pakistanis, and global human rights defenders to speak out on every international platform against India's state terrorism, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and human rights violations i n occupied Kashmir.'On August 5, India tried to erase our identity and take our land, jobs, and future. But our people stood firm-and made one thing clear: we will never bow down, and we will never be silenced,' Bhat said.He appealed to the Government of Pakistan, OIC, United Nations, and the international community to move beyond statements and take real, practical steps to support the people of Kashmir and push for a resolution of the dispute in line with international law and historic commitments.Bhat also delivered a message to the youth: 'Digital resistance is today's front line. Use your voice, your content, your platforms to tell the world what's happening in Kashmir. As long as a single Kashmiri lives, India can never claim victory here.'
