Cabinet Committee Approves Bid for Privatisation of First Women Bank Limited

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoIGT) today, which approved the bid offer for the privatisation of First Women Bank Limited (FWBL).

The approved bid, higher than the reference price, marks a significant milestone toward the successful privatisation of the bank through a Government-to-Government (G2G) transaction with the UAE's nominated entity, owned by the International Holding Company (IHC). The move is expected to boost foreign direct investment inflows and strengthen investor confidence in Pakistan's economy.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar appreciated the efforts of the Privatisation Commission and all stakeholders involved in finalising the transaction. He expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved and reaffirmed the government's commitment to economic reform, transparency, and good governance in the privatisation process.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Petroleum, Minister for Privatisation, Minister of State for Railways, Secretary Cabinet Division, Secretary Privatisation, senior officials of the Privatisation Commission, and representatives from other relevant ministries and departments.
