Srinagar: Indian authorities have intensified the illegal confiscation of Kashmiri properties in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), using fabricated allegations as justification to dispossess locals of their assets.

Indian police have seized properties worth over Rs 66 lakh in Bijbehara, south Kashmir's Islamabad district, belonging to a father and son. The attached assets include a double-storey residential house and a single-storey shopping complex in Tulkhan village, taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Locals denounced the move, saying that such actions have become routine under the Indian occupation, where homes and shops are being taken away on baseless charges of militancy, terrorism funding, or drug trafficking-without fair trial or transparent investigation.

Observers noted that Indian agencies are exploiting the so-called 'drug trade' narrative to seize valuable properties and transfer them to non-locals, serving New Delhi's demographic engineering agenda. Rights groups have condemned the policy as a form of collective punishment aimed at intimidating the Kashmiri population and silencing political dissent.
