Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has said betterment will come in governance and remarkable decline will be witnessed in corruption through cashless economy.
the achievement of targets set by cashless economy be ensured within stipulated period, he said this while presiding over a review meeting on steps for cashless economy here Monday.
The participants were informed about the progress in government steps under PM cashless economy vision of PM.
PM said the ongoing steps for making economy cashless will have key role in durable growth of national economy. Awareness be enhanced in rural areas about complete cashless economy and elimination of informal economy.
The entire world is heading on fast track basis toward digital economy. Pakistan will have to go side by side with the world.
PM said he preferred to steps for making Pakistan a digital nation. Its positive results are coming to open.
The payments under Benazir Income Support Program were made to beneficiaries in the holy month of Ramadan through digital wallets for the first time in the history of country .
It was further informed that the mobile application established for obtaining government services in Islamabad has been integrated with Raast and that the issuance of new licenses for businesses is now conditioned upon digital payments. Additionally, QR codes have been implemented at retail stores for easy digital transactions.
The PM was briefed on progress in connection with one crore digital wallets under Benazir Income Support Program.
The meeting was informed that wallets will become functional completely by the end of this month and the next installment will be sent to the beneficiaries through wallets.
Mobile application set up for acquisition of government services has been linked to Raast and payments are being made through it.
The participants were informed that license meant for opening new business has been made conditional to digital payments system and facility for making payments through RAAST QR codes has been provided in all shops.
Licenses are being issued for establishment of digital banks in the country.
