CDA hands over vital project to private company without written agreement

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) while making a mess of rules and regulations has reportedly handed over a vital project of Shuttle Bus Service between Islamabad and Murree to a private transport company, without any written agreement.

Any open tender or written agreement wasn’t performed before handing over the billion rupees’ project to private transport company, reported.

Director of the Metro directorate CDA Nauman Shaikh told reporter that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif himself had issued directions to initiate the short-lasting project. That was the reason, Nauman said, that any open tendering or written documentations wasn’t performed.

Shaikh said the development authority had initiated the project only for January’s weekends to promote tourism.

When contacted, the private transport company Faisal Movers’ head Ahmad Shahzad revealed he was unaware of the terms and conditions imposed to project by CDA.

Faisal Movers’ Islamabad General Manager Malik Waqar told reporter that his company’s busses will be used to execute the project after CDA’s lingual assurances. However, he said that he was not aware of the exact duration of project since no agreement was signed.

It is pertinent to mention here that local PML-N leadership had advertised the project as a mega achievement of their party. However, the facts and figures are revealing the project as nothing but a political stunt.
