Islamabad: Election Commission (EC) has directed to issue notice again to convicted former parliamentarians to file declaration for the fiscal year.
The case regarding filing of declaration of assets by former parliamentarians came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of EC presided over by Member Sindh Nisar Durrani.
Commission authorities told on the occasion that notices were issued to 17 members. 8 members have filed declaration of assets.
Authorities said 9 former parliamentarians including Shibli Faraz, Ejaz Chaudhry, Zartaj Gul and Junaid Afzal Sahi have not filed declaration of assets.
EC authorities said no mention is made in election act about the outcome for not filing declaration of assets by former parliamentarians.
The authorities said former members were stopped from contesting election in future in such one case. They had not filed declaration of assets.
The counsels for Abdul Latif Chitrali and Junaid Afzal Sahi appeared before the EC. No one appeared on behalf of others.
The counsels sought more time for filing declaration of assets.
The EC while ordering to issue notice again adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
