Eleven Pakistani Names – Including Chaman, Khanpur and Mastung – Now Marked on Mars

Karachi: In a remarkable development for Pakistan in the field of space science, it has been revealed that Mars features 11 locations officially named after Pakistani towns and districts, including Chaman, Khanpur and Mastung.

According to astronomers, international space and astronomical bodies assign names of small towns from around the world to various geographical features on Mars, such as craters and lowland areas. Through this global naming convention, several Pakistani place names have been added to the Martian map.

Reports indicate that the Pakistani names identified on Mars include Chaman, Khanpur, Mastung, Nowshera, Mianwali, Thatta, Bahawalpur, Lasbela, Pishin, Hyderabad and Sukkur. These names correspond to small craters, depressions and other surface features on the Red Planet.

Scientists note that these designations not only enhance Pakistan's global visibility but also play an important role in promoting public interest in astronomy. The presence of Pakistani locations on Martian maps is expected to inspire young people and further encourage engagement with space science and exploration.
