Registration with PMDC: SHC admits for urgent hearing of petition filed by first transgender doctor of Pakistan

Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) Constitutional bench has admitted for urgent hearing the plea filed by first transgender doctor of Pakistan Sara Gul in connection with registration with PMDC and non issuance of license.

The petition came up for hearing before SHC constitutional bench Thursday.

The court while moving to the counsel for the petitioner said why have you come to the court. First you should have written to PMDC.

The counsel for the petitioner took the plea petition has been filed with PMDC. But no reply is being given.

The court remarked what does the particular reply mean.

The counsel said PMDC is giving no reply. Graduation degree is not being registered. The petitioner is being made to make rounds upon rounds of Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC), Sohail university and Karachi university.

The petitioner completed MBBS from JMDC in 2021. JMDC has now been transformed into Sohail university.

According to Sohail university earlier it was affiliated with Karachi university. Now it is a separate university. Therefore, there is no access to PMDC portal.

The counsel told the court that according to PMDC, it is responsibility of university to update the record of students. The petitioner could not get License due to dispute over responsibility among the institutions.

The court while approving the plea for urgent hearing of the petition directed to fix the case for hearing after winter vacations.
