Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has said government will bear all expenses on100 megawatt solar energy project in Gilgit-Baltistan.(GB).
A review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on the solar energy project was held in Gilgit-Baltistan.
PM directed authorities to expedite work on the 100-megawatt solar energy project in Gilgit-Baltistan.
He directed for neutral third party validation to ensure transparency in all the phases of the project.
The concerned authorities gave briefing on federal government solar project in GB.
It was told in the briefing that this is 18 megawatt solar energy project for state buildings. In the Gilgit and Diamir divisions, this project is scheduled for completion by December 2026. The solarization of government buildings in the Baltistan district is expected to be completed by October 2026.Work is underway on an 82-megawatt solar energy project for households in Gilgit, Skardu, Chilas and Khaplu.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including the Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Amir Muqam.
