Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has said the government is avoiding to shift additional burden to people in the prevailing economic situation.

He added the country will be put on the road to progress by improving performance of all institutions.

Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi called on him in Islamabad Monday.

Overall performance of Railway, ongoing reforms and future projects were discussed in the meeting.

The Minister for Railways briefed the Prime Minister on the operational matters of Pakistan Railways, stating that considering public convenience in current Gulf situation, no increase is being made in fares for any operational trains running across the country.

PM said attention be placed on increasing income by improving the railway system. Reforms measures be expedited to transform railway into modern, safe and trusted travelling system.

He reaffirmed the resolve government is pursuing public welfare agenda. The country will be put on the path to development by improving the performance of all institutions.

He directed Railways minister to ensure timely completion of ongoing projects of railway and all the resources be utilized to provide better, safe and inexpensive travelling facilities.
