Husband dies, wife critical in alleged honour-related poisoning incident in Taxila; four suspects arrested

Taxila: A man died and his wife was critically injured after they were allegedly forced to consume poison in the name of so-called honour in the Dhoke Wien area of Taxila, police said.

According to police, officers responded to an emergency call and found the couple unconscious at the scene.

Police said the suspects allegedly opened fire on the responding police party. During the exchange of fire, one suspect sustained injuries, while four accused were arrested. Weapons were also recovered from their possession.

The victims were shifted to hospital, where the husband, identified as Afzal, succumbed to his condition, while the woman remains under treatment.

Police said the exact cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem examination.

A case is being registered and legal proceedings against the arrested suspects are underway.
