IHC adjourns hearing of appeal pleas against sentences in 190 million pounds case

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has adjourned hearing of appeals against conviction in 190 million pounds case while approving plea of defence counsel Barrister Suleman Safdar.

A two members bench of IHC presided over Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar heard the case.

Suleman Safdar took the plea meeting with PTI founder is must for seeking instructions. I give undertaking that meeting will be only professional and I will talk about cases only. If hearing is started here then the petition will become in fructuous in Federal Constitutional Court (FCC). Political temperature is rising in Islamabad talks. On this occasion case was fixed by the office. This should not have been done.

While raising the question of closure of avenues, at the inception of hearing barrister Suleman Safdar said I have reached the court. Latif Khosa could not reach. It was difficult to reach the court being the traffic jammed and avenues closed. Latif Khosa has filed plea for adjournment.

Suleman Safdar said we come to you in the court. Some time relief is granted and some time not granted. If relief is not granted then we knock the door of Supreme Court or Federal Constitutional court.

He said this is not death sentence case. This is case of NAB. I have pursued 300 cases of PTI founder. I am counsel in this case. I will like to say one sentence " why I was ousted.

On inquiring from chief justice that which order of previous hearing has affected you.

Suleman Safdar said NAB sought adjournment on 16 hearing.

He told the court Bushra Bibi has resorted to Federal constitutional court against the decision of this court. Case will be fixed next week in federal constitutional court.

He took the plea if hearing of appeal pleas takes place here then the petition will become in fructuous.
