IHC bars MC from auctioning tea-stalls, tuck shops

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred Metropolitan Corporation (MC) from auctioning tea -stalls and tuck shops.

A single bench of IHC led by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb issued this stay order on the petition filed by Anjuman Tajran (AT) Islamabad.

The court rejected the plea for amending the statement given by Director Capital Development Authority (CDA) on previous hearing.

AT Islamabad had challenged the auction of tea stalls and tuck shops in the court.

Ajmal Baloch president AJ Islamabad appeared in the court along with his lawyers.

The counsel for the petitioner told the court auctioning tea stalls and tuck shops in Islamabad is violation of master plan. Metropolitan corporation has given advertisement in connection with auction of 1807 tea stalls and tuck shops.

The court while issuing stay order on the petition filed by AJ Islamabad adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
