Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given time to federal government till June 23 to give reply in the case regarding non appointment of permanent Indus Water Commissioner.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the case Tuesday.
During the hearing of the case the court inquired as to why the permanent appointment has not been made so far.
Upon it the court was told that at present appointment has been made on temporary basis. Matter was not seen further due to budget. Appointment will be made after budget.
The court inquired it is so much important matter and you have not made appointment.
Additional Attorney General (AAG) said to court budget matter is running. Due to it the matter has been delayed. Give us time. Appointment will be made after budget. Reply in this regard too will be filed.
The petitioner Azhar Siddique advocate said this is the most important post . India is engaged in building dam on Pakistani waters and here no permanent appointment has been made on this post.
The court talked of giving any date in July then the petitioner requested that this matter be kept till JUNE 23.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 23.
According to the petitioner this post was lying vacant since September 01, 2025.
