KARACHI: All the accused including former Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have been acquitted by Accountability Court (AC) Karachi in illegal appointments in PSO reference .The court accepted the plea from NAB for withdrawing the reference of illegal appointments in PSO.The reference related to illegal appointment of Managing Director (MD) PSO came up for hearing before AC Karachi Monday.The court ordered to send back the reference to NAB.In addition to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi the others who have been acquitted are former MD PSO Sheikh Imran ul Haq, former petroleum secretary, Arshid Mirza and former MD PSO Yaqoob Sattar.Later talking to the media outside AC Karachi, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said it should be happy day for us today . NAB has said after 4 years and 2 months that it withdraws the case. The judge acquitted four accused in this case. Another person is coming in this court since the last 12 years. Our case ran for 4 years and 2 months. Only one witness came who was brought by NAB. He spoke nothing against us.Abbasi said if NAB case is under-trial in Sindh then bail has to be obtained from high court.This was not case of corruption but was of misuse of authority case. Cases are made against the political people. I also fought this case.He went on to say the judge of high court asked powers for appointing head rest with whom.The judge wrote in his decision this case is wrong.Statement of only one witness was recorded against us in so many years. This reference was not against corruption but was misuse of powers. The court has earlier said this reference was filed wrong. This reference has been run for more than four years.Today also I met Kamran Michel, he said adding a reference like this is against him too, It will be better if NAB is abolished as soon as possible. Otherwise country will not run.There is need to correct judiciary system.Decisions are made within four to five days in the countries of which examples are given.
