Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and widespread devastation caused by the recent severe floods in Sri Lanka.

In a formal condolence letter addressed to Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Islamabad, Rear Admiral (Retd) Fred Senevirathne, the JI chief conveyed solidarity with the Sri Lankan people and assured full cooperation in relief and rehabilitation efforts.

In his letter, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Jamaat-e-Islami stands with the government and people of Sri Lanka in this difficult time. He described the scale of destruction caused by the floods as heart-wrenching, praying for patience and strength for the affected families and for the swift recovery of the impacted regions.

The JI Emir informed the High Commissioner that Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has already mobilised its volunteers and initiated immediate relief work for those affected. He added that JI and Alkhidmat are prepared to provide every possible assistance, including emergency relief, medical support, and rehabilitation aid.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman assured the Sri Lankan mission that Jamaat-e-Islami would remain in close coordination with relevant authorities to ensure uninterrupted delivery of assistance during the crisis. Expressing hope for Sri Lanka's resilience, he said he was confident the country would overcome this challenge and emerge stronger.
